I’m David Wilson.

I’m running for New Cumberland Borough Council.

  • Trees provide numerous economic and environmental benefits to our community.

Despite these known benefits, we do not have a particularly strong community investment into public trees.

As public infrastructure, trees are one of the few investments we can make that will actually gain value over time.

Shading streets with trees preserves the road pavement, helps manage storm water, and increase the value of surrounding properties.

I will prioritize planting 50 trees to benefit our community now and in the future.

  • Too many cars driving too fast makes our neighborhoods and downtown unpleasant places to exist on foot.

Simple, cost-effective solutions, such as raised crosswalks or intersection bump-outs, can help calm traffic volume and speed.

These solutions will help prioritize walking, cycling, or even electric scooters as methods of travel in our community.

Pedestrian traffic promotes businesses and makes our neighborhoods feel more vibrant and welcoming.

I will seek these types of solutions for Reno, Bridge, and Market streets. Let’s make our community a safer place for everyone, car or no car!

  • Our community has a wealth of knowledge and skills that we miss out on through our normal processes of decision making.

The council needs to be more integrated with the community so that citizen voices can be heard.

I will push for single topic town hall discussions that allow for creative solutions to be discussed on the issues that matter most to our community.

I will also provide quarterly opportunities for the public to speak to me directly on whatever issues matter most to them without the formal structure of a council meeting.

  • Everyone is struggling to make ends meet these days as the cost of living continues to climb.

Many of these issues causing these increases originate at the state or national level, but there are local options to help our communities keep costs down.

The recent trash rate increase is one such example.

Other municipalities offer options such as low volume plans to their residents that could work for us as well.

This rate is negotiated every three years, and when it next comes up for renewal, I will fight for more solutions to keep rates low for all of us.

Meet David.
